Trip

Age: 2 years

Breed: Kelpie

Color: Black/tan

Story: Trip’s neighbor was going to shoot him

Trip is an Australian Kelpie who was rescued from being shot by his owner after he didn’t make the cut to be a herding dog. He was kept in a barn with little to no human or animal interaction and as a result, didn’t have the training and love needed to start his young adult life as a well adjusted dog. Over the course of more than a year, so many people have loved on him and worked with him to help him grow and learn what it means to be a dog that can be loved as part of a family. Trip is potty trained and crate trained (with the promise of a treat). He is amazing with all people, especially children. He would do best in a home where he can be the center of attention without other animals, however, he has lived with and can get along with female dogs and small dogs. He’s extremely loyal, teachable, and eager to please his family and would thrive in a home that can be patient with some of his sensory needs from his time living in neglect, including giving him a little extra time than the average dog to adjust to new environments. He loves long walks, howling at ambulance sounds, taking naps in the garage and sitting with his front paws crossed like a gentleman.
