Reuben is an almost 7 year old Golden Retriever that was recently surrendered to us by his elderly owner. He was severely overweight, and his new foster parents quickly realized he had alot more trouble getting up & around than seemed normal.
After an assessment with his doctor at Catoosa Small Animal Hospital, we discovered that Reuben essentially had two torn ACLs, and an excessive amount of inflammation. After much discussion with the doctors and due to limited relief from general pain management, it was decided that for his best quality of life Reuben would need to receive double TPLO surgery. Essentially, this surgery aims to stabilize the knee joint by altering the angle of the tibial plateau, reducing stress on the CCL and preventing further injury. Reuben needs one for each knee. Luckily, TPLO is considered a highly effective treatment option, with a success rate between 90% and 95%.
Not luckily, this is an expensive surgery at $2,500 per knee. Reuben is placed in a medical foster home and on a weight loss regimen to help him recover once his surgery can occur, but we can’t get him what he needs without your help!
$0/$5,300 raised for Reuben so far.
