Perrie lived on a porch, sharing a small crate with her two sisters. They were malnourished- skin & bones with brittle nails. We thought it was only up from here once we saved them, but for Perrie that hasn’t been the case. Her sister’s have long since been adopted, and she’s been patiently waiting for her forever. Then, she fell ill.
At just 7 months old, Perrie started to have some concerning symptoms. She was suddenly lethargic, disinterested in playing with her friends OR eating any of her meals. Her foster also noticed that she was peeing a concerning amount. We had no idea what to think, was it a UTI? Was it diabetes? It was worse than we ever dreamed, and Perrie was diagnosed with Leptospirosis.
Leptospirosis is a bacterial infection, spread through the urine of infected animals- often rodents. We have no idea where, how, or when Perrie was exposed. And oddly enough, the rest of the dogs in the home seem fine. But Perrie’s kidneys were failing her because of her infection. She spent a week in the hospital on antibiotics, fluids, and fighting for her life.
Perrie’s doing much better now, but her kidneys still aren’t functioning as they should, and she’s having trouble maintaining a healthy weight. We need your help to cover Perrie’s prescription diet and regular diagnostic testing to track her progress.
$0/$200 raised for Perrie’s hospitalization.
