Story: Paul was rescued from a breeder shut down
Paul is a gentle, sensitive poodle who is learning that the world (and people) can be kind. He’s shy at first, but eventually works up the courage for affection, especially when chin scratches and chicken treats are involved. He is wonderful with children and is extremely gentle and patient with very young kiddos. Paul is learning how to play with other dogs, discovering toys, and has even fetched a ball a few times. He’s doing great with potty training, though he may have an occasional accident if he gets startled. At night, he’s becoming comfortable with his kennel and often goes in on his own.
Paul is a sweet but independent soul, not a lap or velcro dog. He likes to quietly check in throughout the day, then relax in his own space, often choosing a rug or blanket near his people rather than the couch. Soft places are a must for him; cold floors are officially off the table. Paul would thrive in a calm, quiet home with patient, gentle humans who understand shy dogs. But make no mistake, he can handle some playtime, too. He would likely do best with another friendly dog to help him continue learning that humans can be trusted, and he’s well-suited for a home where owners work, as he’s content spending time independently. Slow, kind introductions (especially with men) will help him continue to blossom.
