PERRIE NEEDS A VERY SPECIAL FOREVER HOME.
At only 1.5 years old, Perrie should have her entire life ahead of her. Instead, we’re asking for something no rescue ever wants to have to ask for: a hospice adopter for this incredibly sweet girl.
Last year, Perrie battled leptospirosis, and unfortunately, it left lasting damage to her kidneys. Despite treatment and careful management, her kidneys have not recovered the way we hoped. Her kidney values have continued to fluctuate between bad and worse, and while we can’t predict exactly how much time she has, we do believe her life may be significantly shorter than that of a healthy dog her age. Right now, Perrie is on a kidney-specific diet and receives subcutaneous fluids multiple times a week to help support her kidneys. Her medical needs will need to be monitored and managed for the rest of her life.
BUT Perrie is so much more than her diagnosis. She is sweet, gentle, and incredibly loving. She can be a little shy at first, but once she decides you’re her person, she becomes your little shadow and wants to be right by your side. She gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats, and kids, making her the kind of family companion who simply wants to be loved. She even gets the occasional zoomies which are SO CUTE!
We don’t know exactly how much time Perrie has. What we do know is that she deserves to spend whatever time she has surrounded by love, comfort, and a family of her own. She deserves cozy beds, car rides, treats, sunshine, and someone who will cherish every single day with her. Hospice doesn’t mean giving up on Perrie. It means giving her the chance to LIVE while we make sure she is comfortable, loved, and never alone. If you think you could be that person for Perrie, please reach out to us. Her time may be shorter than we ever wanted, but we want every moment she has left to be filled with love!
