Squirtle was born in the rescue to mama Zadie. Always the cutest & sweetest boy, he was weaned from mama, thriving in his foster home, and right around the corner from finding his forever when disaster struck. On a Friday late afternoon, there was a tragic accident in his foster home- resulting in his eye being displaced from the socket in the most gruesome way.
His foster scooped him up, and we didn’t hesitate to rush him into the vet for emergency care. Squirtle was rushed immediately to the back for evaluation, and we were advised to have his eye completely removed. There wasn’t any hope of it healing and not causing him pain or other issues down the line with how it was sitting out of the socket. Squirtle was taken into emergency surgery to remove his eye, and completely assessed for other injuries. After x-rays, it was discovered that his orbital bone was also broken. 🙁
Squirtle is now recovering well in a foster home, and is the cutest pirate puppy there ever was. The healing of his orbital bone is slow, but his swelling is starting to come down and he doesn’t appear to be in any real pain. We’re so thankful it wasn’t worse, and that Squirtle still has a chance at a happy life…even if he looks a little different now.
We rushed in so quickly and acted for Squirtle without stopping to raise the funds first, but we need to make sure we can cover them now that we’ve got the bill. $650 to save Squirtle’s life & save him from ongoing pain by removing his eye. He’s such a fighter, and we’re here to always fight for him too. Can you help us cover Squirtle’s bill?
